Biography

Norlydia F. McBee, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist in private practice who specializes in the assessment and treatment of adults, couples, and adolescents (ages 13+) in Carrollton, Georgia. In addition to working with patients from Carrollton, she also sees patients from Douglasville, Villa Rica, Bowdon, Bremen, Newnan, and other surrounding areas of metro Atlanta, GA.
A native of Georgia, Dr. McBee began her practice in 1993 and is licensed in both Georgia and Alabama. Her areas of special interest include mood disorders (such as depression and anxiety) infertility, loss and grief, adoption issues (e.g., adult adoptees, birth mothers), divorce and separation, and relationship issues. She is also experienced in conducting psychosocial and cognitive assessments, including those related to civil litigation and disability.
Dr. McBee’s professional experience includes serving as the director of a hospital-based pain center, acting as the consulting psychologist for an inpatient alcohol and drug treatment center, and participating in multi-disciplinary pain, cancer, and cardiac care treatment teams. For much of the last 10 years, she has worked as an independent consulting Psychologist in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee conducting psychological, vocational, and intellectual assessments related to civil litigation, behavioral disturbances, disability claims, and work-related problems and acting as a consultant to executives and professionals from insurance companies, law firms, medical practices, hospitals, and general businesses. She has also provided psychotherapy for individuals and couples on a wide range of life issues and mental disorders. In addition, she has given numerous seminars and educational presentations to health-care professionals, community organizations, businesses, and private institutions on various mental health topics.
Dr. McBee received her B.A. degree in Psychology from Kennesaw College and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University. She completed her 1-year pre-doctoral internship training with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama and completed a 1-year post-doctoral supervised year under the guidance of Dr. Greg Swanner. Dr. McBee is a member of the American Psychological Association, Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, and Georgia Psychological Association.
